English” language led to the addition of 7 new runes to the “Elder Futhark”. This led to increasingly complicated forms that must have been more difficult to carve. Perhaps this is part of the reason that these runes did not survive in use for any where near as long as the “Younger Futhark” in Norse lands. Back to Runes page. |
